BEST WEDDING PHOTO LOCATIONS IN SYDNEY

We all want to look the best on our wedding day. That includes the environment, in which we’re being photographed. And even though there are more important things on your wedding day than the location itself – such as having lots of fun with your family and your bridal party – the site of your wedding photo shoot can also play a significant role.

So, we put together a short list of what are in our mind the best and most picturesque, not necessarily most iconic, wedding photo locations around Sydney.

(Watch this space as more photo locations outside Sydney will be the next addition.)

CENTENNIAL PARK

An amazing outdoor location for a wedding photo shoot, or an engagement photo shoot, too.

The variety of backgrounds is stunning: different types of trees, tall grass, flowers, ponds, grass, rocks, wildlife and more. Everything nice and compact, within the same parklands and close to the city.

Plus, the beautiful canopy of trees provides much needed shadow to diffuse harsh sunlight on a bright day.

BRADLEY’S HEAD

Excellent spot that has it all – stunning, hard-to-beat views of the city, including the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, the whole harbour in front of you, a long pier, greenery, rock backdrops, rustic old buildings.

You can get very close to the water for those spectacular wide shots without getting wet or sandy. Who wouldn’t want that?

MARTIN PLACE, ANGEL PLACE

Can’t go wrong with this one. Centrally located, conveniently accessed. The architectural splendour and grandiosity provides an elegant backdrop and adds gravity and a feel of affluence to your photos.

Excellent wet weather option, as the buildings provide rain cover.

In addition, the adjacent Angel Place with its quirky bird cages will leave you with a sense of early 20th century romance.

OBSERVATORY HILL

A unique spot with great views of the harbour and the Harbour Bridge. Not too touristy, so you’ll have plenty of space to yourselves. Beautiful old trees and a long stone wall make for great pictures during the day and at sunset. Great place for the ceremony, too.

THE UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY

A classic wedding setting for wonderful timeless, vintage style photos. This 1850 sandstone beauty is even more enchanting on a rainy day thus making it our favourite bad weather hideout. Backlit rainy night shots – simply superb.

Bear in mind that due to high demand the University of Sydney will most likely need to be booked for your photoshoot. Contact us for advice.

THE ROCKS

This is the quintessential Sydney wedding photo location. There isn’t a weekend in the whole year that you wouldn’t spot a bridal party or two (or 3, 4…) strolling around here. So don’t look into this option if you want privacy.

But with its proximity to the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, the ease of transport to and from, the aged facades of historic buildings and unexpected views from around each corner this is your one stop shop for all your wedding photography.

LAVENDER BAY

Wendy’s Secret Garden is a great little spot, quaint and tucked away from the curious gaze of onlookers.

And then when you make your way all the way down you are greeted by another amazing view of the harbour, with Sydney Opera House right underneath the Harbour Bridge. The little pier, long staircase and the arches of the underpass offer extra variety for your shots.

It’s also a short walk along the board walk to the Luna Park.
